Complexity beat Vitality in poizon’s return at BLAST Premier Spring

Complexity have won the opening match of Group B in BLAST Premier Spring, defeating Vitality 2-0 after coming back from a 1-8 deficit on Mirage and dominating the Frenchmen 16-2 on Overpass. The latter map saw Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut record his worst performance on record, a 0.28 rating, as his team also suffered their toughest-ever loss on the map.

The European side had Valentin “poizon” Vasilev back in action for the first time since early December, when he was ruled out of IEM Global Challenge after undergoing emergency surgery. Although at first the Bulgarian looked out of shape with a tough start on Mirage in the match against Vitality, as the series progressed the AWPer found his impact with a huge highlight on Mirage and a carry performance on Overpass.

Meanwhile, Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke played a massive role in Complexity‘s opening win on their pick, Mirage, where at first the European side looked doomed after a tough start to their offensive half but then turned things around on the back of the Dane’s massive plays.

k0nfig carried Complexity in the Mirage comeback with a 30-bomb

Vitality cruised through the opening stretches of the first half with an 8-1 lead and went on to clinch two more rounds for a 10-5 defense, but when sides switched, Complexity came alive. A pistol round going the way of the European side busted the map wide open and several big multikills from k0nfig, as well as a lightning-fast AWP quad-kill from poizon, saw Complexity put together a near-perfect CT side as they went 11-1 in the second half to secure the opener.

Benjamin “blameF” Bremer & co. seemed to carry over the momentum to Overpass, where the in-game leader started things off with a USP-S quad-kill on long and Complexity went on to dominate the half. With the Dane and poizon consistently finding openings and multikills on both sides of the map, the team went on another 11-1 streak while Vitality had no one to step up to the plate as ZywOo went missing. The Frenchmen could not salvage the dire situation, with just one more round going their way before they conceded the series at 16-2, 2-0.
