Liquid has defeated MIBR in a quick 2-0 series (Vertigo 16-6, Inferno 16-9) to eliminate the Brazilian side from the BLAST Premier Spring Groups. Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo & co. are slated to play FaZe next for a spot at the Spring Final, on Sunday at 16:30 .
The opening stretches of Vertigo had you think MIBR would be able to contest Liquid on the Brazilians’ pick, but that perception quickly changed in the middle of the first half as the North American side took over and never let go.
MIBR secured five rounds in a row as Terrorists on the back of a second-round forcebuy win on A to lead 5-1 after consecutive clutches from Bruno “shz” Martinelli and Gustavo “yel” Knittel. But from that point on, it was an all-Liquid show featuring individual brilliance from Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski, Michael “Grim” Wince, and Keith “NAF” Markovic, all of whom had multiple big moments as the team went 15-1 after the early struggles.
It was a similar story on Inferno, where after going down 0-4 early the Brazilians went on a successful streak on the CT side, with Marcelo “chelo” Cespedes, shz, and yel being the three main pillars of the MIBR defense. It was Liquid who came out on top of the half by one round, however, and the North American team then put together a near-flawless defense to secure another comfortable victory.
