Funspark has announced the qualifier details for their first Asia Regional Series, with four spots up for grabs in both the East Asia and Southeast Asia qualifiers.
The tournament circuit, which will boast a prize pool of $630,000 in 2021, is split up into two seasons, each of which will have two tournaments called Regional Series. The first Regional Series in Asia consists of eight invited teams and eight qualified sides, and will take place from March 29 through to April 11.
The qualifiers in both East Asia and Southeast Asia will boast $5,000 prize pools and utilize a single-elimination best-of-one format to determine the top eight teams, who will then play through a best-of-three bracket to determine which four teams will advance to the first Asia Regional Series. Up to a maximum of 128 teams can take part, and teams may only participate in one of the two qualifiers.
The group stages of both qualifiers, entitled the 5E Arena Invitational, are set to run from March 20-22, with the playoffs for East Asia taking place from March 23-24, and the playoffs for Southeast Asia commencing immediately after, from March 25-26. Both tournaments will take place on the 5E Arena platform.
