MIBR have announced that they have completed the signing of Raphael “exit” Lacerda from Sharks. The 24-year-old rifler joins the Brazilian giants with immediate effect, increasing the roster to six players despite Valve’s decision to issue penalties to teams who substitute out players in the Regional Major Ranking (RMR) circuit.
“I’m very happy with this opportunity, it’s something I’ve always wanted,” exit said in a statement. “I’ll give my best to help this team and help it reach the top, which is where Brazil deserves to be.”
The announcement follows a rough first few months for the new MIBR roster, which was announced in mid-January. The Brazilian team, featuring the core of the BOOM squad that won nine tournaments in a row in South America in 2020, failed to impress in their first tournaments in Europe, finishing last in their BLAST Premier Spring group, fourth in their ESL Pro League group, and 9th-12th in the IEM Katowice Play-In.
exit will replace Daniel “danoco” Morgado on all maps during the first week of practice, according to head coach Alessandro “Apoka” Marcucci, who added that the coaching staff will make a decision regarding the starting lineup for the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown in the days leading up to the event.
“We know we cannot make changes in between maps in the RMR competitions, we need a team of five,” Apoka added. “That’s what Valve wants.
“But it’s very important for us to have six players right now, that’s why danoco will stay with us and will be watching us in practice.”
