cs_summit 8 groups drawn |

Beyond the Summit have revealed the group draw and opening match-ups for cs_summit 8, the Regional Major Ranking (RMR) event for North America that will offer leaderboard points towards qualifying for the PGL Stockholm Major.

Evil Geniuses, FURIA, Liquid, and EXTREMUM all received invites to compete in the main event as a result of being the highest-ranked teams on the 2020 RMR leaderboard, and although the seeding for the groups were done via the world rankings, the draw still resulted in an even distribution, with the directly invited teams matching up against those who advanced through the closed qualifier.

FURIA are set to face O PLANO in their first match

The eight teams have been sorted into two, best-of-three GSL groups, with the opening round kicking off with FURIA in a domestic battle against O PLANO, a match in which they will face Henrique “HEN1” Teles for the first time since his departure from the lineup.

Meanwhile EXTREMUM, returning to play in North America for the first time since October when they took part in IEM New York, have been drawn against Extra Salt, who concluded a European tour of their own and had a flawless run through the cs_summit closed qualifier.

In Group B, Evil Geniuses are set to take on paiN, a team Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz and company have yet to face after spending the first portion of their year in Europe, while Liquid and Bad News Bears will face off in the second opening match.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the upper bracket of the playoffs, while the loser of the decider match in each group will have a chance at redemption through spots in the lower bracket, resulting in only two teams being eliminated during the group stage.

The schedule for the opening matches of cs_summit 8 looks as follows:
