mousesports have advanced to the Flashpoint 3 upper bracket semi-finals following a convincing win over BIG (Mirage 16-5, Nuke 16-11), securing at least a top-six finish at the Regional Major Ranking tournament. Christopher “dexter” Nong‘s team are set to face Astralis in the next round on Sunday at 18:00 for a spot in the upper final.
With the second consecutive victory, the European side have continued an impressive run at the tournament. They have yet to lose a map after they also beat fnatic in convincing fashion in the previous round of the upper bracket, with all of their players looking in good form, averaging a 1.20 rating or higher across the four maps they have played so far.
In the second upper bracket quarter-final series, BIG picked Mirage for the first map and quickly found that they had bit off more than they could chew. mousesports had the opener under absolute control, putting together a supreme defense on the back of a couple of key plays from David “frozen” Čerňanský early on in the first half before a second pistol round win spelled the German team’s quick demise.
Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz & co. put up a better fight on Nuke but still were on the back foot for most of the map after a forcebuy back-and-forth ended with mousesports finding the edge. BIG struggled for momentum until late in the half when they salvaged the defense with three consecutive rounds and switched over just one behind, but another forcebuy win put dexter‘s men back in the driving seat, and mouz claimed the second map 16-11 and the series 2-0.
