Spirit, forZe through to EPIC League playoffs

The first two teams to make it out of the EPIC League CIS group stage alive are Spirit and forZe, securing top 8 finishes and a minimum of 950 Regional Major Ranking (RMR) points with clean 3-0 records in the Swiss stage.

Spirit started the tournament with a convincing win over underdogs bankaPEPSI in their opening match before taking on the No. 1 team in the world ranking, Gambit, and following it up with a third victory against he rising stars of Entropiq. The squad led by Leonid “⁠chopper⁠” Vishnyakov did it in style, too, closing out all three series with 2-0 scorelines.

In forZe’s case, the Russian squad won their first two matches as the favored side against IN.GAME and Nemiga. They then knocked Virtus.pro down to the pool of teams with a 2-1 record, where Dzhami “⁠Jame⁠” Ali and company now sit alongside K23, Akuma and Entropiq.

Natus Vincere and Gambit, the top ranked teams at the event, will be looking to get closer to playoff contention by joining the 2-1 pool on Thursday, as they are scheduled to play bankaPEPSI and Trident, respectively, at 16:00
