O PLANO dismantle FURIA in cs_summit 8

O PLANO are through to Group A’s upper bracket final in cs_summit 8 with a convincing 2-0 victory over FURIA, the highest-ranked team in attendance in the Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournament. The result marks the second upset in this group following Evil Geniuses2-1 defeat against paiN on Thursday.

“Every time we play FURIA it’s like Corinthians against Palmeiras,” O PLANO manager Raphael “cogu” Camargo said after the match, referencing the fiery rivalry between these two football clubs from São Paulo. “We don’t have time to party, we have no days off.

“We put in a lot of energy, not only before but also during and after the matches. It’s going to be a tough game tomorrow. We are going to be prepared and we will give our best.”

O PLANO will take on paiN for a spot in the playoffs

It was a forgetful night for FURIA, who turned in one of their worst performances ever. The gulf in class was enormous from beginning to end, and one has to wonder what kind of impact this defeat will have on the team, who are now staring elimination in the face just two days into the tournament.

O PLANO set the tone early on as they romped to a 9-2 lead on the CT side of Vertigo, FURIA‘s map pick. With the half nearing its end, Andrei “arT” Piovezan‘s side finally began to bear their teeth, stringing four rounds together to keep themselves in the game.

But FURIA‘s respite was brief. O PLANO came storming out of the break and took the game to their opponents, who looked flustered and out of their depth. A miraculous 1v2 clutch from Yuri “yuurih” Santos at 13-7 only delayed the inevitable as Vito “kNgV-” Giuseppe‘s troops immediately fought back, establishing a hold on proceedings that they never let go of.

FURIA had yet more torture to endure as they put in an abject first-half performance on Mirage, where O PLANO ran rampant from the opening stages. Henrique “HEN1” Teles‘s 1v3 clutch in the fifth round perfectly encapsulated the confidence flowing through the team and FURIA‘s struggles during the half, which could have easily ended 15-0.

HEN1 piled even more misery on his former team with another clutch in the pistol round to put O PLANO within sight of victory. With no room for error, FURIA went in search of a miracle, but by then they were simply too far behind, eventually losing the map in a round where O PLANO had nothing but pistols to work with.
