FURIA have received a direct invite to the Elisa Invitational Summer playoffs, where they will join the competition in the quarter-finals alongside three other unannounced sides. The single-elimination, best-of-three bracket will run from June 30 through to July 4 and hold a $50,000 reward for the victors.
The Main Swiss stage is currently underway and will see half of the 16 teams progress to the first round of the playoffs, with the winners moving on to face the invited teams in the quarter-finals. Top-30 sides such as Entropiq (#15), HAVU (#21), SKADE (#22), DBL PONEY (#23) and Fiend (#28) are in attendance along with a host of teams that made it through the Regional Swiss stage in May.
FURIA will look to get off to winning ways with honda at Elisa Summer Invitational
The Elisa Invitational Summer will be FURIA‘s first tournament with honda back in the starting lineup following Paytyn “junior” Johnson’s decision to move to the bench after struggling to adapt to his new environment. The 20-year-old is no stranger to the team, having played in the BLAST Premier Global Final and cs_summit 7 at the beginning of the year as a replacement for the North American AWPer, who missed those two tournaments due to passport issues.
The $100,000 tournament will serve as necessary preparation for the Brazilian side ahead of IEM Cologne, which is scheduled to take place from July 8-18.
