Renegades add Kingfisher as head coach

The 24-year-old joins the Australian roster ahead of its appearance in the IEM Cologne Play-In stage.

David “Kingfisher” Kingsford has joined Renegades as the team’s head coach, the North American organisation has announced. The addition marks the first time the lineup will have a head coach since losing Torbjørn “mithR” Nyborg to mousesports in November 2020.

Kingfisher played for teams like Downfall and Paradox before transitioning in 2019 to a coaching role. He worked with Ground Zero and AVANT, notably leading the latter team to runner-up finishes to Renegades in DreamHack Open Summer and DreamHack Masters Spring Oceania.

“I’ll be helping the boys with their training and preparation going forward,” Kingfisher stated in the team’s announcement video. “I look forward to working with them in Cologne, and hopefully bringing back some good results.”

Solid preparation will be key for Renegades as a tall task awaits them in Germany, where they will take on Vitality in their opening match of the IEM Cologne Play-In on July 6 at 13:30
